The first time I heard of Spicy was when I was in Mongolia! I was staying at a nomadic camp when I crossed paths with Terry. We were both travelling overland: he was on his way back home to England, and I was on my way south to warmer places! I told him I was planning to go to Thailand, and he made me promise to stay at Spicy Thai.
In Thailand I first travelled to Isaan, where I had a job as a volunteer in a local school, but after a few weeks of being unable to speak to anybody because of the language barrier I decided it was time for a long weekend in Chiang Mai. After a twenty hour journey I arrived at Spicy. There I met Noom, and in a very short time I met all the other guests thanks to the fantastic activities Noom was always organizing!
After a few more months travelling I was getting tired of always being on the move, and I found myself missing Chiang Mai. I had such a great time at Spicy that I emailed Noom to ask him if I could be part of the wonderful Spicy team!
So it turned out that once more I arrived back in Chiang Mai, where I was soon warmly welcomed into the Spicy family!
Spicy Thai is also the place I met my boyfriend Jonathan in 2009, and we're still living happily together forever after back in England.
Like I quoted on my blog: "Thanks to Spicy I've learned that you need a Noom to make a hostel special, and for every guest to remember!"
During my stay I also met Lovely Pong and one day I hope to visit him at Spicy Laos Vang Vieng, which I've heard has been voted “the best hostel in Laos”!! Congratulations ^^
